June 2016

Another outstanding mix of unique survival tools – from a rare bird trap to a DIY Atlatl Kit!  June marks the final box in the ABO Woodshop series and includes the Mini Bow Sen.  This unique tool is designed specifically for making bow and arrow in the field.  It can be used as an arrow scraper, draw knife, nocking tool, chisel and even as a standard knife.  Now, with these 4 tools, there is no limit as to what APOCABOX subscribers can make in the field!

June 2016 List of Contents

HAND-FORGED  ABORIGINAL MINI  BOW  SEN: $22

TOOL #4 in the Aboriginal Wood Shop series is the Mini Bow Sen.  This is the perfect tool to round out your ABO kit.  Ultimately, this tool is designed to produce survival bows and arrows.  However, it can be used to make survival spears, atlatls, trap triggers, snow shoes, netting needles, utensils, and all varieties of survival tools or implements.  It is a knife, a chisel, and a rasp.  It excels at cleaning small game, prepping food, and makes a really great all-around camp knife.

FOLDING  BUSH  SAW:  $17

As many of you know, I have been a long time fan of folding hand saws.  They are just flat out one of the most useful tools you can carry into the woods.  From shelter building to fire making, it’s hard to beat the efficiency of a good folding hand saw.  I’ve found the enclosed saw to be very durable.  It also holds its sawing edge for a long time.  The rubber grip provides traction for muddy, wet, and snowy conditions.  One feature I like about this saw is that you can replace the blade if necessary.  Extras are available in the APOCABOX shop for only $4.99 if you want to keep a couple on hand.

AUGUST  BLACKOUT  STICKER:   FREE

There has been much speculation as to what the contents of the August Blackout Edition of the APOCABOX will be. We have had so much fun conceptualizing and bringing to life the tools and gear that will make their debut in this special edition box. This sticker serves as two-fold reminder: look forward to what is ahead, but you can never be certain of what’s coming. This summer, August will be black. See you then.

LARVETS:  $2.50

Someday, in order to survive, you might need to eat something less than savory. But with these Larvets, you can prep are your taste buds for that eventful day. However, with the flavorful crunch these bad boys have to offer, you might end up eating insects because you like them. Go ahead, we wont tell.

VENUS  BIRD  TRAP:  $15

***NOTE***  Primitive survival traps such as this one are illegal to use outside of a life and death survival scenario.  Keep this in your Bug Out Bag or Survival Kit and use it only for educational purposes, unless you must use it to stay alive.

This venus fly trap-style live capture bird snare is hands-down one of the most effective bird capturing traps available.  Its design is simple and time-tested.  Birds represent one of the largest wild food resources in almost every environment.  However, they can also be the most difficult to catch.  I’ll never forget the stories my Grandpa used to tell me about how he and his 7 brothers and sisters would catch sparrows during the Great Depression and cook them over a small fire for food.  Maybe your grandparents have told you similar stories?  This trap will put food on the table – period.

ZOMBIE  TINDER  SURVIVAL  CANDLE: $9

Zombie Tinder’s Emergency Survival Candle is the only candling device on the market that can be lit with a spark. Every candle has a small, ginned cotton ball inside of it. This ball should be placed on top of the wick and then sparked to flame. This flame transfers to the wick for sustainable combustion.
This survival candle is made by hand with 100% natural beeswax. The wick is also handmade which, produces a robust, strong, and bright flame that is wind and weather resistant. The beeswax also produces a very aromatic, bright-orange flame. It comes to you sealed, in a 4 oz, screw-top tin container and has over 12 hours of total burn time. 4 + oz beeswax.

EPIC  WIPE:  $5

It is likely that personal hygiene isn’t your first priority in a survival situation. However, you don’t want to underestimate the benefits of keeping yourself clean when things get nasty. Epic Wipes were developed by Dr. Aeneas Janze, after serving time in the military, to give individuals a compact and natural way to clean themselves when a hot shower just isn’t available.  Epic Wipes are 16x larger than a standard wet-wipe and made from all biodegradable materials. They are also paraben and toxin free, contain anti-bacterial essential oils, and can even be reused.  Save space in your Bug Out Bag and have the confidence of cleanliness with Epic Wipes.

YUCCA  Natural  CORDAGE  KIT:  $5

Processing and sourcing natural cordage is at the core of every well-rounded survival skill set.  Yucca is at the top of the list when it comes to cordage plants.  The value of this kit is in the knowledge and the 1st hand experience of how to process and make usable cordage from plant fibers.  Besides processing fibers from yucca leaves, you will learn the REVERSE WRAP method of weaving cordage.  This knowledge can be applied to other natural fibers, plastic bags and even toilet paper (aka prison rope).

JUNE  SKILLS  CHALLENGE:  $25
MAKE  YOUR  OWN  INSTANT  ATLATL

***NOTE*** When built, this atlatl is absolutely dangerous.  Treat it just as you would a bow & arrow or any other high power hunting weapon.

The ATLATL (at-lat-l) is one of the coolest primitive hunting weapons I’ve used.  I’m still just a student myself when it comes to blasting a target with one but, WOW, are they fun to use!  This kit contains 2 sets of fletchings for the darts as well as 2 “lethal” field expedient arrow points.  It also contains the hardware necessary to construct the dart throwing shaft.  These pieces are designed and produced exclusively for APOCABOX subscribers.  The beauty of this kit is that you only need to source 2 sticks and, after you do so, you can be slinging an atlatl dart in under 30 mins.

I’ve filmed a short video about how to build it here: SORRY – FOR APOCABOX SUBSCRIBERS ONLY.
