BUSHCRAFT  DUMP  POUCH

I (Creek) have always loved using a belt Dump Pouch in the woods.  They are perfect for keeping frequently used items handy as well as a great place to stow away foraged resources, such as tinder or wild edibles.  After many years, I finally decided to design my own and have included it in this box.  It’s made from water resistant waxed canvas that is durable and resilient.  It’s larger than the average dump pouch and has a drawstring closure, as well as several interior pockets to organize smaller items such as a phone, folding knife and a pen or pencil.  I hope you’ll use this in your own adventures for many years to come!

HAND  CARVED  BONE  FEATHER

A dear friend of mine (thank you Stephen!) gave me one of these many months ago.  It is a feather pendant carved from buffalo bone.  It’s such a great little tool for a variety of wilderness and bushcraft chores.  To name a few, I’ve used mine to help separate the hide from the carcass when processing wild game, as a primitive thimble when repairing gear in the woods, for processing plant fiber cordage by using it to remove the chaff and pith from fibers, and I’ve even used it to lift my pot of tea from the hot coals of the fire.  I know so many of you will come up with so many other uses.  Please share them with all of us my emailing them to creek@creekstewart.com or by posting on Facebook or INSTAGRAM.

100%  BEESWAX  BAR

It’s hard to nail down a specific reason as to why I chose to include this 100% natural beeswax bar in this bushcraft-themed box, as there are literally countless uses for beeswax, from medicinal to practical (i.e. gear repair). Here are just a few that come to my mind: Beeswax can be utilized as a flame extender by mixing it with natural tinder. It can be used to tame natural fibers from plants and trees, making them more manageable to work with. The addition of a wick can turn this bar into an excellent candle or lamp. It can also be used to seal seams in boots, packs, or even your dump pouch. Show us how you use your beeswax bar by sharing your photos on Instagram. Be sure to use #APOCABOX so we can see them!  Each of our beeswax bars are packaged in a hand-made goat-skin medicine pouch made at a small tannery right here in Indiana.  This pouch can be used for many different purposes as well.  I use mine as a medicine pouch around my neck that I keep salt in for flavoring wild meals.

WHISKEY  BURR

Meet our newest addition to the Whiskey Knife Line, the Whiskey Burr. Though short and stout, it is mighty and perfectly designed, as well as hand-crafted to tackle any task too difficult for a bigger blade. Hey, you might even be surprised at some of the big tasks this knife can take on with ease! This knife was hand-forged, from start to finish, just for you. It doesn’t get any more unique than this! For all the details, check out the Whiskey Burr informational post card included in the box! We can’t wait to see how much you enjoy this knife, be sure to take photos and tag us using #APOCABOX so we can see!

SHARPENING  BRICK

This little ceramic sharpening brick is the perfect, lightweight solution for putting a nice edge on your Whiskey Burr while using it in the field. Lace it to a shoelace, attach it to a pack, or even find a creative way to include it on your favorite sheath. For more information, see the sharpening instructions included on the Whiskey Burr postcard in this box!

SURVIVAL  TROT-LINE  KIT

Every survivor needs to be a master of the trot-line.  In many environments, catching fish and turtle is the best way to put food on the table.  This turn-key trot-line kit contains everything you need to get the job done.  I have illustrated and described several ways to use this kit on the back of this page.  This month’s SKILLS CHALLENGE is to make a sample Limb-Line Set using your trot-line kit.  See below for details.  The tarred line included with your kit also has many more functions than for just setting trot-lines.  It can be used for snares, lashings, sheltering, guy-lines and so much more.  It is a fantastic multi-functional cord.

BUSHCRAFT SKILLS CHALLENGE

A Limb-Line Set using the material in your Trot-Line Kit will familiarize you will the knots and methods needed to properly set all of the different trot-line sets detailed on the opposite page.  For step-by-step full-color instructions on making your own sample Limb-Line Set, please visit this Subscriber Only link:  XXXXXXXX
